Subject:

LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Mark II Confirmatory Analysis Results NRC Docket Nos. 50-373/374 LOD 81-40-20

Dear Mr. Youngblood:

In support )f statements previously made at the management meeting between Commonwealth Edison and the NRC Staff on December 22, 1981, the following schedule for the LaSalle County Mark II Confirmatory Analysis Program is provided: ,

1. Analysis Completed 4-1-81
2. Stress Reports Reconciled 4-15-81
3. Draft FSAR Amendment 5-1-81
4. Final Documentation - FSAR 5-15-81 It should be understood that the results that will ultimately be reported represent the final analysis documentation package. Preliminary results have been periodically reported to the NRC to assure the adequacy of the plant design as construction was completed. In this regard, agreement has been reached on the methodology for defining the loads, as well as, on the acceptance criteria to be applied in judging the adequacy of the results. In addition, the confirmatory piping analysis being conducted by the NRC Staff on pipe subsystem (RH-04) will demonstrate the adequacy of the analytical methods used.

Therefore, it is the judgement of the applicant that the final documentation package to be submitted in May 1981 is not required to assess the adequacy of LaSalle County Unit 1 but is required only as a quality assurance record to verify that all necessary calculations have been completed.
