11215 We have received a letter dated 1/6/81 fr a Frank J Miraglia responding to our inquiry regarding the NRC policy of a singl-mailing per Company of generic lett.ers and documents that apply to nuclear eactor facilities. After reviewing this response, we request that this policy be revised since we cannot guarantee response to generic requests relating to the Midland docket unless the request is sent to James W Cook, Vice President, Projects, Engineering and Construction, Consumers Power Company, 1945 W Parnall Rd, Jackson, MI 49201. The reason is that separate areas of the Company are responsible for the different NRC dockets depending on whether the plant is under construction or operating. Furthermore, our internal system automatically sorts and distributes the mail to the indicated addressee. The single mailing at best introduces unnecessary delays in reaching the Midland Project personnel and in addition introduces uncertainty in the determination of whether the specific correspondence applies only to the operating plants or to all our dockets.

We therefore request that in the future, any generic requests that apply to the Midland docket be addressed as indicated above. Thank you for your attention to this problem.
