MEMORANDUM TO THE FILE:
6g j
SUBJECT:
PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXPORT TRITIUM TO CANADA FOR OILWELL LOGGING (XB001122)
On January 28, 1981 Shell Development Company filed an application to export 80.0 curies of tritium in the form of gas and water contained in tracer equipment to Canada for use in oilwell logging. Although the specific date the tracers will be needed at the site could not be determined, Shell Develop-ment has requested expeditious processing of the license request to allow the tracers to be exported insnediately in order to be certain the equipment would be available at the site when required.
The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, tnd would not be inimical to the coninon defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations, the staff issued this license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
