Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued
- emporary six-month extensions for the preliminary design approval (PDA)
>f the General Electric GESSAR-238 Nuclear Island (PDA-1), Combustion Engineering CESSAR System 80 (PDA-2), and Westinghouse RESAR-41 (PDA-3) standard nuclear steam supply systems. These extensions apply to the applicability period during which a utility may reference these standard designs in construction permit applications. If a utility's application is received, referencing an extended PDA, i it will be reviewed against current licensing requirements. Consequently, de expect that the preliminary design would be updated at that time to reflect the licensing requirements which have evolved since the PDA was issued. The Commissicn has taken this action in order to conserve the resources that have been expended in the review of the preliminary design of these nuclear ( I l l l g pg a[- 8 / C6 D / 3 d Q Y G
