This refers to the telephone conversation between Mr. Beck of your staff and Mr. Kenneth R. Ridgway of this office on December 5,1980, regarding the inspection conducted by this of fice on December 4, 1980, concerning the inadvertent
- removal of both Fuel Temperature Thermocouple Channels from service for a short period of time on November 26, 1980.
With regard to the matters discussed, we understand that you will modify the means of supplying power to the fuel temperature thermocouple circuitry by wiring the power source into the reactor console and safety system power supply so that the reactor cannot he operated without operable Fuel Element Temperature Channels.
We understand this action will be completed by December 5,1980.
If our understanding of your planned actions as described above is not in accordance with the actual plans and actions being implemented, please contact this office immediately.
