Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
I.E. BULLETIN 79-02 FARLEY' NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 Alabama Power intends to upgrade additional concrete expansion anchor bolts within the scope of the Farley Unit 179-02 program from their existing safety: factors (greater than 2.65:1) to safety factors greater than or equal to 4:1 (for wedge type) or 5:1 (for shell type).
This upgrading will be performed during the upcoming refueling outage.
Following this upgrading, there will be fewer than 5% of the concrete expansion anchor bolts with safety factors less than the bulletin requirements on any system within the scope of the program. Alabama Power Company believes these actions will be sufficient to bring Farley Unit 1 into full compliance with the bullettre requirements.
