ENCLOSURE

)

REQUEST,

1.

Provide a description of the station air compressor power supply.

RESPONSE

1.

Station Air Compressors Farley Unit No. 2 is equipped with three station air compressors, which are supplied power from Normal 600V Load Centers as follows:

- Air Compressor 2A, from 600V Load Center 2G

- Air Compressor 28, from 600V. Load Center 2P

- Air Compressor 2C, from 600V Load Center 2Q All three Load Centers 2G, 2P and 2Q are located in the Turbine Building.

Under nomal operating conditions these Load Centers are powered from offsite power. Upon a unit trip with LOSP, the subject Load Centers are deenergized. However, the present design provides these buses with access to the onsite emergency power sources through 600V Load Center 2F, by manual actions.

In addition, 600V Load Center 2G can be supplied emergency power from the 4160V Bus 2H through the Station Service Transformer 2G.

The 125V DC control power for the control of the 600V breakers associated with the subject air compressors is being taken from the Turbine Buildir.g Battery through the 125V DC Distribution Cabinet 2J.

The 120V AC control power foi-Compressor 2A, 28, and 2C is taken from the motive power through control power transformers located in the corresponding 600V breaker compartment.

In addition, some circuitry for Station Air Ccmpressor 2A uses 120V AC control power taken from the 120/208V AC Distribution Cabinet 2J.

It should be noted that the 600V breakers associated with the subject compressors can be locally operated without DC control power.

REQUEST 2.

Provide a description of the Atmospheric Relief Valva and Condenser Steam Dump Valve Power Supply, i

RESPONSE

2.

Power Supplies to the Atmosaheric Relief Valve and the Condenser Steam Dump Valves

ENCLOSURE Page 2 Atmospheric Relief Valves - There are three air operated atmospheric relief valves.

Each valve is equipped with two solenoid valves and a pcsitioner in its respective air supply line.

All six solenoids associated with the three valves are Train A and powered from Train A Class lE 125V DC Distributf en Panel 2C.-

All three positioners associated with the subject valves have their circuitry powered from Train A Class 1E 120V AC Distribution Panel 2J.

Condenser Steam Dumo Valves -_ There are eight air operated condenser steamdumpvalves(4valvespercondenser).

Each valve is equipped with three solenoid valves and a positioner in its respective air supply line.

Each valve has one solenoid powered from Train A Class IE 125V DC Distribution Panel 2A and.tvo solenoids powered from Train B Class IE 125V DC Distribution Panel 2D. All positioners associated with the subject valves have their circuitry powered from Class IE 120V Vital AC Distribution Panel 2D Channel 4.

.S t_ -

l t

This change notice provides design changes to prevent the Atmospheric Relief Valves, PV3371A,B,C, from openning on positioner failure in an ad. verse environment.

Also, emergency air connections are revised.

j The following additional material is required:

item: 8 gty: 1 Westinghouse Annunciator Card (NAI) p/n 2837A88G06. This card provides relay contacts which are controlled by bistable output.

Westinghouse ISD is to provide schematic and connection details for cards, items 4 through 8, reference functional block diagram attached. (Dwg 205814 changes)

Electrical details for solenoid valves, control switches and annunciator will be provided by 2BE change notice.

Fnuctional

Description:

(PV3371A described as typical)

I.

dormal With HS3371AB in AUTO SV3371AA is centro 11ed by bistable PB3371A. When the control signal to valve positioner is greater than 4ma, ie asignal to open PV3371A, the bistable output changes to energize SV3371AA.

This allows positioner, PY3371A to control PV3371A position. When signal to positioner is to close PV3371A, SV3371AA is de-energized to block positioner output and to vent valve actuator.

I II. Operation with Emergency Air A.

Emergeicy Air can be supplied to positioner inlet through NV073A & NV074A.

l PV3371A operation same as above.

B.

Local operation of PV3371A using HS3371AB. When HS1371AB is in CLOSE SV3371AA&AB are de-energized.which closes PV3371A. When ES3371AB is in OPEN SV3371AA is de-energized and SV3371AB is energized to supply air to PV3371A t-tuator from the Emergency Air supply. If Train A 125 VDC is lost to the solenoid valves, SV3371AB, located o,utside Main Steam Room, can be operated using the manual operator on the solenoid valve.

LOCATION / INSTALLATION 1.

Solenoid valves SV3371 AA, BA, CA are to be seismically mounted close to respective valve actuator.

These SV's must be counted with the solenoid vertical and upright.

2.

Solenoid valves SV317! AB, BB, CB are to be seismically mounted at elev. 100 in vicinity of Emergancy Air Compressors to meet the following criteria:

a) These solenoid valves have manual operators and therefore must be readily accessible to plant operators. b) Minimize the length of piping run to solenoid valves in Main Steam Room.

3, Piping Installation: HBD-643 is seismic Cat I.

All piping / tubing between Emer. Air supply and PV3371 valve actuator is to be installed as Seismic Cat. I Tubing shall be 3/8 in, stainless steel ner Soec.1109-2.
