BANNING OF GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINAr.it
'c (NRC LICENSEF) FOR RADI0 ACTIVE WASTE SHIPMENTS The Region V office was notified by the NRC inspector onsite on November 5, 1980 that a shipment of 40 wooden boxes was received from General Electric Company, Wilmington, North Carolina on November 3, 1980.
Upon examination of the shipment, it wass determined that seven boxes appeared to be leaking liquid.
Based upon the apparent items of noncompliance, the State of Nevada has banned, effective November 5,1980, the NRC licensee from use of the burial site _until further notice. No significant contamination was detected on tha boxes.
The boxes have been placed into the burial trench.
There has been no media interest.
Region V received notification of the occurrence from the NRC onsite inspector i
at 2:10 P.M. on November 5,1980.
