LPL 14502 Q-3-A20.03.14 Mr. K. V. Seyfrit, Director U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission, Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza, Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76012
SUBJECT:
I.E. Bulletin No. 80-05 Docket No. 50-382
" Vacuum Condition Resulting In Damage to Chemical Volume Control System (CVCS) Holdup Tanks"
REFERENCE:
Letter LPL 14110 dated June 9, 1980
Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
The referenced letter provided our response to the subject bulletin with the exception of the Spent Resin Tank which we had identified as having the potential for being overstressed if it is drained without being vented.
We have determined that the vent valve to the Vent Gas Collection Header (7WM-V154) has to be closed only when the SRT is pressurized for trans-ferring resin to the Dewatering Tank. This vent valve will be locked open at all other times to prevent the possibility of producing excessive vacuum conditions.
This completes our response to the subject bulletin.
If there are further questions, please advise.
Yours very truly, D. L. Aswell DLA:WNF:meb cc:
