Dear Mr. Fisenhut:
IAEA SAFEGUARDS DATA UNDER 10 CFR 75 Your letter of August 19 provided information concerning the IAEA design information questionnaire to be utilized in the submission of installation information by nuclear power facilities.
Our review of these forms indicate that while the information is available, it will require significant effort and time to compile the data in accordance with the forms provided.
I am sure you are aware that the request for such information occurs on top of numerous other requirements that are already taxing the capabilities of cognizant plant staff.
We would like to suggest that the NRC consider utilizing existing information presently in your files to respond to the IAEA needs ed? the use of the Resident Inspectors staffed at operating nuclesc plants to compile the information.
We would, of course, assisf_ the Resident Inspectors to the extent possible in such conpilation.
We all must realize that there are limits to the amount of information which can be produced within a patticular time span.
We urge that every effort be made to minimize requests for such information to the greatest extent possible.
Very truly yours, n
.O
