Dear Ken:
This is to dociament the results of the corrosion examination on the grindouts on the CRD Hydraulic System Return Nozzle cladding.
After all of the penetrant indications were removed by grinding the grindouts were covered with water saturated rags and allowed to stand for a minimum of eight (8) hours. The grindouts were then examined for any indications of rust, which would indicate penetration into the base metal. No rust or corrosion (discoloration) was detected.
Since penetration into the base metal was not obtained, dimensional checks of the grindouts were not necessary per Para. 4.10 of G.E. Pro-cedure 22A5514, Rev. J.
A minimum slope of 2:1 on the clad grindouts was obtained as determined by a contour gage.
