GENERAL ELECTRIC TEST REACTOR (GETR)

HEARING PARTICIPATION The GETR has been shut down under Order since October 1977 pending determination of proper seismic design criteria and a demonstration that the facility can withstand such seismic events.
The staff's safety evaluation regarding this subject has been issued and a hearing before the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board is scheduled to begin on May 25, 1981. Jonn Burdoin, currently assigned to your staff in Region V, contributed in a significant manner to the electrical and seismic scram portions of the safety evaluation while assigned to the Instrumentation and Control Systems Branen, NRR.
I request that John Burdoin cor.tinue to represent his techni. al review in this complex issue. This will involve preparation for and participation in the ASLB hearing.
