January 28, 1981 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Darrell C. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 NRC DOCKET NUMBERS 50-424 A'iD 50-425 CONSTRUCTION PERMIT NUMBERS CPPR-108 AND CPDR-109 V0GTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT INTAKE STRUCTURE Gentlemen:
In accordance with paragraph 3E(7) of the Vogtle Construction Permit, Georgia Power Company hereby submits to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission two (2) copies of the results of the aquatic monitoring programs and our evaluation of the anticipated environmental impact of the intake structure and intake canal. The study demonstrates that impingement will not have a significant adverse effect on the adult population of resident and anadromous fish in the Savannah River. Every effort has been made in the design of the structure and canal to mitigate adverse impact.
Through a series of unexpected events, it appears that submission and approval of this study is within the critical path for initiating construction of the intake structure. We request the NRC expedite the review, as we would like to begin construction of the structure by March 1,1981. We will be available at your convenience to address any questions or concerns that you may have.
Your assistance in this natter is appreciated.
Sincerely,
$. 4 /M" G. F. Head Vice President and Manager GFH:tp go)
