J AN 141981 Docket Nos. 50-352/353}

s APPLICANT: Philadelphia Electric Company FACILITY:

Limerick Generating Station

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF MEETING WITH PHILADELPHIA ELECTRIC COMPANY A meeting was held on December 9, 1980 at the Holiday Inn in Pottstown,_

Pennsylvania, with Philadelphia Electric Company (PECo) and its subcontractors and consultants. The purpose of the meeting was to listen to the results of the risk evaluation study that was performed by PECo for the Limerick Generating Station. The study was requested in May 1980 and scheduled to be completed in September 1980. A list of attendees is attached as Enclosure 1.

The presentation of results of the study was given in an afternoon session.

The entire session was transcribed and the transcript will be distributed by separate cover letter as soon as sufficient copies can be reproduced.

It is expected that this will be done before December 31, 1980.

The highlights of the presentation and the conclusions reached by PECo as a result of the study indicate that, overall, Limerick Generating Station at the Limerick site results in less risk than the BWR analyzed in WASH-1400.

This conclusion was reached after considering population distribution and meteorology that increased risk and improved design and plant characteristics that decreased risk. The conclusions of the study and the basis for reaching these conclusions will be reviewed by the staff using Sandia National Laboratory.

The final report upon which the review will be conducted is scheduled to be submitted to NRC by PECo in March 1981.

In the evening a public meeting was held, also at the Holiday Inn in Pottstown, to answer questions and receive comments from the public. This meeting was also transcribed and its transcript will.be distributed at the same time as the afternoon session's transcript.

I Principle concerns expressed by the public centered around emergency planning and evacuation; status of a public road located on-site; and diversion of water from the Delaware River via Perkiomen Creek. These and other issues Tl O I3 00 dt M

JAN 141981 identified in the transcript will be considered by the staff in its review of PECo's application for an operating license. PECo indicated that its application will be filed with the NRC in late December 1980 or early January 1981.
