ENCLOSURE IE EULLETIN 80-06 BROVNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (DOCKET NOS. 50-259,-260,-296) 1.0 Diesel Generator Controls As indicated in our December 3, 1980, letter, some diesel generator control logic will be changed upon reset of the ESF logic; specifically protective relaying will be enabled as follows:

1.

Reverse Power 2.

Loss of excitation 3.

Overcurrent with voltage restraint

- -.,= -

It is desirable to return this protective relaying to service to ensure long term diesel availability.

Also, safety analysis indicates

- that enabling the protective relaying does not af f ect the short term availability of the diesels.

Accordingly, the present design is the preferred arrangement.

2.0 480V Load-Shed Logic As indicated in our December 3,1980, letter, ESF reset will af fect the 480V load-shed logic.

Particularly, ESF reset will retie certain minor safety related loads onto the 4SOV shutdown boards automatically. Operarfanally, it is desirable to reinstate the loads and our preliriaary review indicates that ample capacity is i

available on the ciectrical distribution. We are, however, l _ - rr_r_-- _ evaluating this further and will notify NRC if this arrangement _ __

presents any problems..
