This letter constitutes an interim report on the, subject anchors.
Our architect-engineer has reviewed the use of 1" diameter Hilti anchors at the Zimmer Site. As a result of this review, we have determined that there is not a significant problem based on the fact that the Hilti anchors, for the majority of the applications at Zimmer, have utilized a 4hD embedded depth.
Hilti has not revised the ultimate loads for the 4 D embedded depth anchors.
Only 1" diameter anchors with 6D embedded depth and greater have noted a reduction in the ultimate capacity.
A total of 44 supports have been identified by our architect-engineer as utilizing 1" 0 expansion anchors with embedded lengths of 8D. These supports are being reviewed to determine whether the design for these supports is impacted by the change in Hilti criteria. We anticipate this review to be completed by mid March, 1981. Our final report to your office will be by March 31, 1981.
