Pittsburgh, PA 15112 January 9, 1981 Mr. John F. Ahearne Chairman Commissioner U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1717 H Street, N.W.
Washington, DC 20555
Subject:
Docket 50-2895P, TMI Unit 1
Dear Mr. Ahearne:
it is tim, regard to the accident at Three Mile Island, With I believe e to move ahead with America's energy independence policy.
TMI-1 should be restarted now; more importantly, TMI-1 should have been operating many mont'ns ago.
You, along with the other members of the NRC, are allowing our country to risk our basic quality of life by surrendering our resources to an international cartel.
It is time to ignore the wild accusations of the anti-nuclear forces and proceed with a safe nuclear program.
As you are aware, a safe nuclear program can be achieved utilizing existing technology, without the unnecessary government regulation that adds nothing to the safety of a nuclear plant while adding billions of dollars to the cost of nuclear energy.
I implore you and your fellow Commissioners to move ahead with nuclear energy and make this country truly energy independent.
Sincerely,
& 77/
f.
