Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 License 'Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 NUREG-0737 Item II.K.3.3 Reporting Safety Valve and Relief Valve Failures and Challenges (File: 1510.6,2-1510.6)
Gentlemen:
The subject NUREG item required us to promptly report failures of primary code safety valve (s) and relief valve (s) and to report challenges to these valves in the annual report.
These reporting requirements have been added to our procedures. For 1980, this requirement was implemented for the period beginning April 1,1980.
For ANO-1, only one challenge to the Electromatic Relief Valve occurred for the period beginning April 1,1980 and ending December 31, 1980.
This challenge occurred on April 7,1980 during the recovery from the loss of offsite power event which occurred on that date. This transient is documented in Transient Report 1-80-01 which has previously been transmitted to NRC.
No challenge to the primary system code safeties has occurred during this period.
For ANO-2, no challenges to the primary system coce safeties have occurred during this period. AN0-2 does not have an Electromatic Relief Valve.
In the future, these reports will be submitted in the January Monthly Operating Reports for ANO-1 and ANO-2 respectively.
