April 10, 1981 Fina'l Prehearing Conference April 17, 1981 Commencement Of Evidentiary May 4, 1981 Hearings To Run In Continuous Session Until Completion This proposed schedule is based upon the time frames suggested by the Board and the ensuing discussion concerning scheduling at the recent prehearing conference and is compatible with the NRC Rules of Practice and the interests of all parties 3/

in this proceeding. -

For the reasons stated in n. 1, supra, all direct testimony by all witnesses appearing at the evidentiary hearings must be filed in writing by this date in order to be admissible into evidence at the hearings.

The proposed schedule contemplates that all parties will exercise reasonable diligence in connection with their dis-covery efforts and not wait until the last day of the dis-covery period to file new discovery requests.

In order to insure the prompt resolution of discovery disputes, GE respectfully requests that the Board accompany the ado? tion of the proposed schedule with an order incorporating the requirements contained in n. 1 and 2, supra, and also re-quiring that (a) all objections to discovery and motions for a protective order be filed within five (5) days of receipt of the discovery request, (b) all responses to objections and motions to compel be filed within five (5) days of receipt of objections, and (c) the Board advise the parties of its decisions with respect to any such matters via telephone.
