" STANDARD FOR QUALIFICATION OF ASME CODE CLASS 2 & 3 PUMPS FOR SAFETY SYSTEM SERVICE" AND " QUALIFICATION FOR TURBINE DRIVES" SD TASK NO. SC 922-5 In response to your memo of October 28, 1980 NRR has reviewed the subject standards and has coments listed in the enclosure. The standards were submitted for review to our Equipment Qualification Branch, Mechanical Engineering Branch, Qualify Assurance Branch, Materials Engineering Branch and Auxiliary Systems Branch. Coments from EQB, HEB and QAB were previously transmitted to L. Porse and are enclosed for the record. ASB reviewed the standard and had no coments. MTEB did not comment.

Page 37, Section 11.2 - Rewrite entire section as follows:
"The quality assurance and quality control requirements are established by the design specification. For pressure boundary parts, the manu-facturer as well as his suppliers shall follow the requirements of Sub-section NCA-4000 ' Quality Assurance' of Section III of the ASME Code.
Where applicable, these requirements should be supplemented by the QA requirements contained in ANSI N45.2 and the QA series daughter standards, e.g., N45.2.9, N45.2.ll, etc., and shall be followed for quality affecting activities covered by this standard."

Comments on Draf t ANSI N551.5 1.
Page 6, Section 6.4.1, second line - Af ter " requirements of" delete "A';SI N45.2.2, Level C minimum," and add "Section 3.1.3 Class C of ANSI N45.2.1, Cleaning of Fluid Systems and Associated Components During Construction Phase of Nuclear Power Plants."

Page 6, Section 6.4.2 - Rewrite this section to also include the activities of receiving, storage, and handling.

Page ll, Section 8.1.2, fourth line - Delete "N45.2" and add "N45.2.9 ' Require-ments for Collection, Storage, and Maintenance of Quality Assurance Pecords for Nuclear Power Plants.'"

Page 11 - Add a "Section 9 entitled ' Quality Assurance' with the following or similar statement:
" Quality affecting activities shall be in accordance with the QA requirements contained in ANSI N45.2 and the QA series daughter standards."
