l This refers to your April 16, 1980 request (sutcitted on your behalf by Nuclear Assurance Corp.) for a route approval to cover shipments of spent reactor fuel.
The review of licensee route approval requests is subject to the Comission's license fee schedule in 10 CFR 170. For reactor licensees, fees for the review of route approval requests will be assessed under fee category F of Section 170.21, as special projects. In accordar:ce with Footnote 4 of Section 170.21, the charge for the review will be detemined by the Commission based on the professional manpower required to conduct the review plus any support costs.
In detemining the fee to be charged, only actual staff time expended in the review of the route request is used to calculate the fee; the route (field) survey conducted by the NRC staff is excluded from fee computatinn.
The review of your april 16,1980 approval request was completed June 5,1980 (copy enclosed). The cost of the review arounted to $750 (20 man hours 9 $33 per man-hour). We have, therefore, notified the NPC Office of the Controller j
