Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Dear Mr. Eisenhut.t This letter is in response to your letter addressed to licensee dated November 13, 1980, concerning NUREG-0619 "BWR Feedwater Nozzle and Control Rod Drive Return Line (CRDRL) Nozzle Cracking" which we received on December 8, 1980.
Your letter requests that the licensee respond within 45 days of the' letter, under oath, confirming that the implementation dates in NUREG-0619 will be met.
Additionally, for any date that cannot be met, the following is to be furnished: a proposed revised date, justification for the delay, and any planned compensating safety actions during the interim.
Our Mechanical Engineering Division is currently reviewing NUREG-0619 in accordance with your letter.
However, we-will be unable to appropriately respond with the results of our complete review until January 22, 1981, which is 45 days from the date of our receipt of your letter.
As you are aware, Philadelphia Electric Company in conjunction with General Electric Company and the BWR Owners' Grouo has implemented modifications to both systems.

Eisenhut Page 2 refueling outage in accordance with GE Topical Report NEDE-21821-A (dated February 1980) and similar work is scheduled for Unit 3 during the 1981 refueling outage.
In reference to the CRDRL issue, the Unit 2 return line was cu, and capped and modifications were completed during the 1980 refueling outage in accordance with Operating License DPR-44 Amendment Numbers 60 and 73.
The Unit 3 CRDRL was cut and capped during the 1979 refueling outage in accordance with Operating License DPR-56 Amendment Number 60.
The modifications described in Amendment 72 to the Unit 3 Operating License are scheduled for completion during the 1981 Refueling Outage.
