Zion Station Units 1 and 2 Supplemental Response to IE Bulletin 80-11 concerning
" Masonry Wall Design" NRC Docket Nos. 50-295/304 Reference (a):
J. S. Abel letter to J. G. Keppler dated November 6, 1980.
Dear Mr. Keppler:
Reference (a) transmitted the Commonwealth Edison Company 180-day response to the subject bulletin for Zion Station Units 1 and 2.
In this response it was noted that an operability assessment of those walls that did not meet our acceptance criteria had been made and it had been determined that the safe shutdown capability of the plant was not jeopardized.
We also indicated our intent to provide the NRC with a repair schedule for these walls by December 1,
1980.
At this time, 16 walls have been identified as not meeting the acceptance criteria.
Present manpower commitments as well as construction time for the repairs have been reviewed by Zion Station.
Assuming the level of activity for the ensuing twelve (12) months follows our projections, the necessary repairs to the masonry walls will be completed by January 1, 1981.
