Subject:

NRC IE Bulletin No. 80-21, " Valve Yokes Supplied by Malcolm Foundry Company, Inc.", dated November 6,1980

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Responsive to IE Bulletin 80-21 dated November 6,1980, please be advised that no active valves which have parts cast by Malcolm Foundry Company, Inc. are in use in safety related systems at Northern Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCO) Bailly Generating Station, Nuclear-1 (BGSN-1). However, construction as well as engineering for BGSN-1 is presently halted awaiting completion of the NRC review of BGSN-1 pile foundations. Therefore, we are unable to determine if any such valves are planned for use in the facility.

We will complete our response as soon as practicable followmg resump-tion of engineering and in any event not later than January 4,1982.

Very truly yours, Mj
