e Unit 2 remains in cold shutdown following the ranual scram of the $ nit oncs.o t

December 5,1980. The licensee replaced pump coraponents in the electrically driven emergency feedwater pump, including a new rotating assembly. Subsequent testing of the repaired electrically driven emergency feedwater pump indicated that the pump curve dropped off at the upper end of the curve. The drop in the pump curve indicates that the flow would be i

reduced approximately 60 to 70 gpm below nomal flow of about 460 gpm.

The licensee, Combustion Engineering technical personnel and others, including NRR, are involved in evaluation of possible methods to resolve the low flow in the pump.

A revised reactor re-start date has not been released by the licensee.

NRC, Region IV (Dallas) received notification of this plant extended shutdown by telephone from the Senior Resident Inspector at 9:30 AM (CST) on December 15, 1980.

Media interest is possible.

The licensee issued a press release on December 9, 1980.
