SUBJECT:
BEAVER VALLEY UNIT 1: R00 POSITION INDICATOR CHAtlNELS In order not to holdup the scheduled plant startup, J.T. Beard provided you on Saturday, November 15, 1980, with a draft Safety Evaluation Report on this matter. Enclosed is the final of this SER, which differs from the draft only by a few editorial changes.
As the SER states, we find that the use of channel detector primary voltage measurements is, within the constraints of the revised Technical Specification 3.1.3.2, an acceptable backup method for use at Beaver Valley for this operating cycle. The perforr.ance of the installed analog rod position indicator channels is not particular to Seaver Valley. Accordingly, we plan to discuss this equipment performance and long-term solutions with Westinghouse.
