November 6, 1980, "Til:E3 Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-282 License Nos. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Schedule for Environmental Qualification Tests This letter responds to the letter of October 1, 1980 from Mr D G Eisenhut, Director, Division of Licensing, USNRC, in which it is requested that we submit information related to environmental qualification tests to be conducted within the next two years.
It is difficult to report specific information at this time related to the tyoe of equipment requiring testing, the test dates, and test locations for the next two year period. Licensees may not be the best source of this type of information.
Perhaps a system which would inform the Division of Licensing on an on going basis of impending tests could be developed which would involve other elements of the industry as well as licensees.
Qualifications tests to be conducted in the near future for Prairie Island equipment are well defined only for the pressurizer power operated and safety valve monitoring system. The valve monitoring system for the pressurizer power operated relief valves and safety valves is scheduled for environmental testing by a Babcock and Wilcox Owner Group to which we belong. The components to be tested include components in containment and outside containment.
Component Name Manufacturer Model Location Accelerometer Endevco 2273AM20 Containment Hardline Coaxial Endevco 307SM6 Containment cable 0.068 in OD Preamplifier Unholtz-Dickie 22CA-2TR Containment Valve Monitor Unholtz-Dickie P22MHA-1 Relay Room These companents will be tested by Approved Engineering Test Lab (AETL).
