SUBJECT:
Request for permission to utilize an alternate start-up channel.
After further checks, we have found that the BF system is 3
compatible with the interlock circuit.
As a result, we will use normal operating procedures rather than those described in the first I
letter. The only change will be lowering the BF tube to the designated 3
position for a start-up and the later removal of the BF tube when 3
a power level of about 15 watts is reached.
We have not checked out this with the reactor in actual operation and-hence would prefer permission for either alternative.
