Dear Mr. Price:
Enclosed are three signed copies of Commonwealth Edison Company's application for amendment of Appendix A of License DPR-2 as amended, dated October lk, 1960.
Because of the simplicity of the amendments requested, the analysis of each change is incorporated in the application, rather than as a separate report.
Accordingly, in compliance with CFR 50 30, forty additional ccpies of the complete application are being forwarded under separate cover.
It is apparent from the analysis of each amendment that none of them involves questions of safety significance.
Consequently, it is our view that the amendments proposed need not be submitted to the sat e proce,dures which otherwise might be invoked.
It is hoped that written approval, required pursuant to Paragraph 3.a(4) of License DPR-2 as amended, will be forthcoming prcmptly in order that the changes to the plant nay be accomplished during the current shutdown.
We anticipate filing in the near future another application for amendments to Appendix A in License DPR-2 which will involve more significant safety evaluations.
Among these f3 is the amendment required to permit the use at Dresden of f '(a,p
.c improved fuel assemblies incorporating the latest developments
, in design and fabrication.
