March 29, 1978 BBS LTR #329-78 Mr. James G. Keppler, Director Directorate of Inspection and Enforcement - Region III U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 SUBJECT-Report of the Special Investigative Task Force Reviewing the Application of the Out-of-Service Procedure at Dresden

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Commonwealth Edison Co 's response to IE Inspection Reports #50-10/77-35, 50-237/77-32, and 50-249/77-30, dated January 9, 1978 from C. Reed to J. Keppler, mentioned that a special investigative task force had been established to review the application of the out-of-service procedure at Dresden as a result of difficulties experienced with removing equip-ment from service in December 1977. Our response indicated that the report of the task force was expected to be implemented before Msrch 31, 1978. Dresden Station has now received that report.

As discussed with Messrs. Shafer and Barker of your office on March 28, 1978, we will have an implementation status for the recommendations and a schedule for completion of any open recommendations, available for review by April 15, 1978.
