Dear Mr. Keppler:
In response to a letter from Pr. Fiorelli dated December 15, 1975, following are replies to the items of noncompliance 1
listed under Enforcement Action in the Summary of Findings section of the subject inspection report.
Infraction A.1 Discussion:
Adherence to procedures for control of access into "High Radiation Areas" is the responsibility of each individual working at Dresden Station.
To emphasize this responsibility, the subject of the monthly General Station Safety Meeting for November 1975 was radiation protection.
Violations of radiation protection procedures are revised'by Station management and ap-l propriate action taken.
l Corrective Action:
The corrective action taken at the time of the infrac-tion was to'rolock the high radiation anca access doors.
- Thus,
{
compliance with the requirements of 10 2FR 20.203(c) was achieved on November 18, 1975 1

Corrective Action to Avoid Recurrence:
In order to avoid future noncompliance items of this nature, on December 5, 1975, the Station Assistant Superintendent sent a directive to all supervisors listing expectations con-cerning certain supervisory responsibilitics.
One of these ex-pectations is to assure access doors to all high radiation areas are locked except uhen the area is occupied.
Also, individuals identified as violating the high radiation area locked door pro-cedure are tcing notified by the Assistant Superintendent that further violations will result in disciplinary action.
Date of Full Compliance:
i As discussed above, full compliance was achieved on November 18, 1975.
Infraction A.2 Corrective Action:
In November 1975, when this infraction was identified by the inspector, the fuel which is the only potentially significant source of radiciodine had been removed from the containment building.
For this reasoa, no immediate corrective action was appropriate.
Corrective Action to Avoid Recurrence:
The correctivo steps taken to provide adequate evaluation of airborne radiciodine have included a letter to and meeting with thc. Rad Chem Department in which the Rad Chem Supervisv. stressed the importance of thorough evaluations of airborne radioactivity including radioiodine air sampling.
To facilitato proper monitoring, a continuous air monitor with radiciodino sampling capability has been installed in the Unit 1 containment.
In order to avoid future noncompliances of this nature, a routine radiciodine sampling pro-gram will be initiated by February 1, 1976.
Full compliance will be achieved at that time.
Date of Full Complianco:
As discussed above, full compliance will be achieved February 1, 1976.
