A review of the Technical Specifications for Fire Protection which f.
were issued on February 28, 1978 has been completed for existing

Fire Protection Systems. We will address these requirements in Section 7 of the Draft SER on Fire Protection whic.h is in preparation.

We note that the present Technical Specifications are inadequate in the following areas:
Fire Brigade Size 1.
The licensee has agreed to increase the size of the fire brigade from 3 to 5 trained members. This change should be reflected in r
.. revised Tech. Specs.

Section 3.7.10.2 covering sprays systens should be revised to include the three zones of spray and sprinkler systems which o
protect the Turbine Building. A Major fire in the Turbine

Building could adversely affect the Turbine Building structure

which supports the switchgear room and control room.
O Section 3.7.10.4 covering hose stations should be revised to a 3'h 3.

hydrants. The former is required due to the significance of Turbine Building fires noted in 2 above.

Yard hydrants should be included since they are the only means of fire water for those areas which do not have hose stations, e.g. prirary auxiliary building, diesel generator building, and pump house.

Section 3.7.10.4 should be revised to add'the operability of a water hose station in containment during refueling or shutdown
