NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF Al1ENDfiENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE l

The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Comission) has issued Amendment No. 20 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-5, issued to Georgia Power Company, Oglethorpe Power Corporation, Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, and City of Dalton, Georgia, which revised the license for operation of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Unit No. 2 (the facility) located in Appling County, Georgia. The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.

This amendment revised the license condition related to Fire Protection by deleting the requirement to install a sprinkler system for the facility's recirculation pumps in the drywell.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and require-i ments of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Comis-l sion's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment. Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.

The Comission has detemined that the issuance of this amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR

!i51.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environ-mental impact appraisal need not be prepared in connection with issuance of this amendment.
