Dear Sir:
I have reviewed the Draft Pregra==atic EIS relating to decenta tination and disposal of radioactive wastes resulting fres March 23, 1979 accident Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
I have only cne comment which is summari::ed below.
Page 3-18 suggests that the bald eagle and esprey are likely to take fcod frc the Susquehanna River below "'hree Mile Island. The bald eagle is an endangered species. The analysis on pages 6-26 to 6-30 shculd include an analysis of radienuclido concentration and absorbed radiation dose in bald eagles or ospreys that might feed en fish for several months in the Susquehanna River or Chesapeske Bay following controlled or accidental releases of processed water. Because compounds such as cesium or strontium become concentrated many-fold times more in fish-eating birds, would such concentrations harm individual birds or affect their reproduction in the folicwing year (s)?
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this EIS. Please send me a copy of the Final EIS when it becomes available.
Respectfully yours,
,Ns hj&R Robert W. Guth, Ph.D.
