Y Mr. R. H. Encelken, Director Region V, Office of Inspection and Enforcement U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Suite 202, Walnut Creek Plaza 1990 North California Boulevard Walnut Creek, CA. 94596 Docket 50-312 Rancho Seco huclear Generating Station, Unit 1 IE Bulletin 79-14

Dear Mr. Engelken:

The purpose of this letter is to provide some additional information on IE Bulletin 79-14.

This information was requested by one of the Region V inspectors during a recent visit to Rancho Seco, so that he could close out this bulletin.

Two items require further clarification:

1.

In our August 1,1930 submittal, line nurrber 21501-24"-CA (stress problem 60 A, B and C) was dispositioned "Not inspected-high radiation area".

Further examination of the inspection packace for this line showed that it was not totally inaccessible because of high radiation.

The accessi-ble portion was indeed inspected and no discrepancies with the seismic ana-lysis were found.

A subsequent walkdown has been performed and pictures were taken to confirra the as-buil t isometrics.

A revised sunmary sheet is attached, showing the final disposition for stress orablem 60 A, B and C.

2.

The walkdo,m on stress problem 73 was done using the stress isometric instead of the as-built isonetric and several flanges were nissed in the in-spection.

To make sure this problem was not widespread, ten other stress problems were identified where the stress isometric was used for the walkdown instead of the as-built isometric.

Each of these was given a second walkdown using the as-built isormtric.

No discrepancies were noted that changed the original disposition.
