Description of Event

on October 11, 1980, while operating in Mode I at 100% power, the pressurizer level indication provided by LT-1461 deviated from the average. reading and was declared inoperable.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence Since LT-1461 was placed in the tripped mode within one hour as specified by T.S. 3.3.1.1 and two redundant protection channels were available, the health and safety of the public were not affected.

Cause of Event

The level. indication was oscillating over a range of 20% while technicians were securing the reference leg tubing associated with the transmitter to prevent its movement.

Immediate Corrective Action

The immediate action was to declare the channel inoperable, and place it in the trip mode.

Scheduled Corrective Action None Actions Taken to Prevent Reccurrence The reference leg piping was clamped to structural supports to prevent further movement of the pipe. The level transmitter has since been reading properly, and it has been returned to an operable status.
