The request for information contained in Reference (a) concerning "Hydramotor Actuator Deficiencies", was last responded to in Reference (b), in which it was indicated that more time was required to complete the review for LaSalle County Units 1 and 2. Subsequently telephone canversations with Mr. L. Spessard of Region III were held on Septer.oer 30, 1980 and October 15, 1980 discussing further extensions of the r; ate on which a final response would be provided. The LaSalle County Station review required b; IE Bulletin 80-09 38 now complete, and is contained in the enclosure to this letter. , t. ' * ~ ENCLOSURE Resoonse to IE Bulletin 80-09 LaSalle Station Units 1 ano 2 1 The Station Nuclear. Engineering Department has reviewed 4 the subject bulletin and has the following comments: MCC Powers had reviewed in accordance with the bulletin all safety related actuators at LaSalle County Station, and has revealed a possible problem with approximately 30 actuators. The problems include No. 1 spring. installations in some cases (bulletin item A.) and/or actuator torque requirements below' design minimum (bulletin item 8.). Sargent and Lundy is presently discussing this problem. with the manufacturer of the actuators, ITT General Controls. 4 Either actuator springs will be replaced,.or entire actuators will be added or replaced for the problem devaces.- This will-be completed prior to fuel load for each unit.
