This letter is submitted as a third interim report on the subject item, pertaining to HVAC damper actuators, which was initially reported by letter on March 12, 1980 and in a second interim report on April 21, 1980.

r The on-site rework program for the ITT Actuators was ccmmenced July 21, 1980 and completed August 4, 1980. We are in the process of reviewing the data pertain-ing to the rework. During the rework program, two of the 57 actuators (IVG09YB and IVC 26Y), failed the recycle test andwcre returned to the ITT factory. The reworked units have been received on site and will be retested.

We have since been informed by the damper manufacturer of a further problem affecting one of the above units (IVC 09Y3). This defect was reported by telephone to Mr. P. A. Barrett of your office on October 14, 1980, as our 50.55(e) case number M-24 and a written interim report will be submitted by November 13, 1980 in compliance with 10CFR50.55(e). The disposition of this item will affect the closure of case number M-14 and we are currently estimating completion by Cecember 31, 1980.
