OCT 171980 Westinghouse Electric Corporation ATTN: Mr. Carl E. Schnautz Industrial and Government Tube Division Westinghouse Circle Horseheads, New York 14845 Gentlemen:
By application dated June 3,1980 Westinghouse Electric Corporation requested a license authorizing the export of one proportional counter, valued at $740.00, for use in the Bushehr I Reactor in Iran.
Your application was fomarded to the Department of State in order to obtain the views of the Executive Branch with respect to the proposed export.
On August 13, 1980 the Executive Branch informed us that the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended by P.L.95-242, have not been met, and that the Executive Branch is unable to make a detennination that the proposed export will not be inimical to the coninon defense and security of the United States in view of current conditions in Iran. We concur in this judgment.
Inasmuch as the requirements of Section 109.b. of the Atomic Energy Act of 15'i4, as amended, are not satisfied, your application for a license to export this item to Iran is denied.
Sincerely, W h.
