20555 Attention: Mr. A. Schwencer JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR FLANT - UNIT 2 SAFETY GRADE COLD SHUTDOWN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Gentlemen:
As requested in a telephone conversation on October 22, 1980, with members of the NRC Staff, additional information concerning the procedure for Farley Nuclear Plant Unit 2 safety grade cold shutdown is submitted.
Alabama Power Company will provide the specific procedure for cooldown using natural circulation after completion of natural circulation tests and analyses to be performed at Diablo Crnjon.
Furthermore, Alabama Power Company will conduct, prior to issuance of the full power license, special test 501-7-006 which contains provisions that will demonstrate the ability to regulate the plant's cooldown rate utilizing the main steam power operated relief valves in manual control. The results of this test will be available onsite for review.
