Dear Mr. Varga:
In response to your letter of April 20, 1980, concerning Category I Masonry Walls, Alabama Power Company committed (by my letter dated September 2,1980) to complete re-evaluation of masonry walls at Farley Nuclear Plant Unit 2 by November 7, 1980.
An initial walkdown has been completed identifying all concrete block walls and allowing a preliminary assessment that no structural problems exist. However, in order to perform a detailed engineering re-evaluation, it is necessary to prepare as-built engineering drawings of each of the walls. This effort is requiring more time than originally anticipated.
It is expected that engineering re-evaluation of these as-built drawings will be completed by December 15, 1980. At that time, any exceptions or deviations from SRP requirements for block wall re-evaluation will be reported and discussed.
