Mr. Paul W. O'Connor, Project Manager Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Dear Mr. O'Connor:

At the Dresden-1 subcommittee meeting on October 8. I stated that the erroneous half-lives cited in Table 1 of the draft en-vironmental statement had originated with Dow and Commonwealth Edison Company.

I now find that this statement resulted from an error of recollection in part and further was based in part on hearsay evidence that may be erroneous.

My recollection that I had seen that table in two places evi-dently arose from its presence not only on page 2-2 but also in the staff's resconse to questions from the Illinois Safe Energy Alliance (page 6 of that response).

My attribution of this douole appearance to a prior presentation by Dow and CECO evidently came from my recalling the comments of Citizens for a 3etter En-vironment (C35) in their C3E 80-141, dated July 18, 1930.

On page 2, they allege that "the EIS directly lifts this table from CECO's submittal of April 1h, 1975."

Since I did not have access to the cited document, I should not have repeated their allega-tion without verifying it.

I would be interested in learning, even at this late date, whether or not their allegation is correct.

Sincerely, b' 1;4a,eid de,3 Alexander Grendon Consultant, ACRS Cy: Paul Shewmon Chairman, Dresden Subcommittee
