SUBJECT:

Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Equipment (File: 1510.6,2-1510.6)

Gentlemen:

Your letter of October 1,1980 requested that AP&L submit information relative to equipment qualification testing to be conducted during the next two years.

At present AP&L has no environmental qualification tests planned during this time period.

As you are aware, because of IE Bulletin 79-01B, we are currently reviewing the environmental qualification of safety related electrical equipment required to operate in a harsh environment.

Should this review result in the need for additional qualification testing we will provide you with the requested information as our plans are devel-oped.

For your information, AP&L is currently participating in a utility group effort to qualify selected Rosemount and Foxboro transmitters. We expect that the requested information relative to this testing will be provided to you by Wisconsin Electric Power Company, which is serving as lead utility for this group.

Very truly yours, b
