BWR Scram System - BWR Owners Group Criteria

Dear Sir:

The following information is provided in response to 3,'ference (b) 1.

' Provide) "The results of any reassessment of your present scram system to confirm conformance with'the General Design Criteria (Appendix A to 10 CFR 50)."

Response Appendix F of the Vermont Yankee FSAR documents conformance with the proposed general design criteria in existance when the plant was. constructed. A cursory reassessment has been conducted and it is our opinion that the Vermont Yankee design i

meets the intent of the General Design Criteria (Appendix A to 10CFR50).

It has also been concluded that certain system modifications should be implemented to further enhance system availability and reliability.

2.

"Whether you intend to reevaluate your present scram system and modify it as necessary to meet the additional desigr, and performance criteria developed by the Owners Sub-Group.

If not, what criteria will be used to judge the adequacy of your present scram system?"

Response-We expect to use the Owners Sub-Group design and performance criteria as. the ' basis for any reevaluations, and subsequent system modifications.
