SUMMARY
OF JUNE 16 THROUGH JUNE 20, 1980 MEETINGS REGARDING REVIEW 0F OPERATING LICENSE APPLICATION The NRC staff (Mr. D. Scaletti, D. Froelich and S. Saba) and its consultant (Mr. Harold E. Price, Biotechnology) met with the Alabama Power Company (Mr. W. G. Hairston, Plant Manager, and his staff) at the Farley Nuclear Plant to evaluate human engineering aspects of the control room. The evaluation focused on: work station layout, including visibility and reach; control room environment, specifically noise and illumination, and; design and content of emergency procedures.
Results of the evaluation were discussed in a July 15, 1980 meeting with the Alabama Power Company in the NRC offices at Bethesda, Maryland. The summary of the evaluation at the plant is attached to our September 24, 1980 memorandum on the July 15 meeting.
