Interim Criteria for Shift Staffing a
Dear Sir:
Reference 2 requires that anytime Maine Yankee is being operated in Modes
{
1-4 (Power Operation, Startup, Hot Standby or Hot Shutdown respectively) the i
mirdmum shift crew sha11' include _ two licensed senior reactor operators (SRO) i one of whom shall be designate'd as the shift supervisor, two licensed reactor I
operators (RO)'and.two unlicensed auxiliary operators (AO).
The above requirements mandate Maine Yankee to increase its present licensed operator staff by nine licenses, two senior reactor operator licenses and seven reactor operator licenses prior to July 1, 1982 in order to have six H
qualified rotating shifts.' In ordar to meet the staffing criteria prior to

July 1,1982,-Maine Yankee presently has five personnel in senior reactor operator licenses training and six personnel in reactor operator license training; all to. sit for the appropriate ' licenses at the end of May 1981.
In the fall off1981 another senior reactor operator and reactor operator training course will commence with licensing -in the spring of 1982.
w Upon completion of the above, Maine Yankee will meet the interim criteria l
for shift' staffing prior to July 1,1982.
