WATERFORD UNIT 3 OL ENVIRONMENTAL-REVIEW This memorandum provides background.information on the; schedule and scope of the Waterford Unit 3 OL 3tage environmental review. With,this basiciinfor-mation, the assigned NRC staff can initiate the appropriate NEPAfreiliew and

-The-0L stage environment'al review for Wate(ford Unit 3 is:sch'eduled to j

comence January 1981. - The environmental statement has been prepared by a

-team from Argonne NationalLLaboratory (ANL), except for;those sections

-j

-addressing radiological impacts and radioactive waste management' systems.

' Editorial-and art services, and preparation for printing will be provided R

by ANL. A list.of ANL reviewers-is included as Enclosure 1.

A preliminary schedule which calls for DES publication on March 6e 1981,.and FES publication on August 7,1981, has been developed (See Enclosure 2).

Adherence to this schedule.is important due to an anticipated fuel load. date of July 1982 ~and to the fact that the environmental he6 ring is contested.
