Subject:

Detroit Edison Response to NRC IE Bulletin 80-16

Dear Mr. Keppler:

The final report of our analysis and evaluations of the potential misapplication problem on Rosemount pressure transmitters, Models 1151-and 1152, described in the subject bulletin cannot be submitted to your office by October 1,1980, as committed to in the referenced Detroit Edison letter.

General Electric Company, the nuclear steam supply vendor, has been i

unable to meet their original schedule for the response, due primarily to the large number of plants which must be reviewed.

Plants which are operating or approaching fuel load have obtained priority in the General Electric review schedule. This situation necessitates that we request an indefinite extension of the reporting j

date.

J General Electric was unable to provide a projection of the date by which work on the Fermi 2 applications would be completed.

' General Electric apparently underestimated the size of this project when the previous estimates were generated.

Detroit Edison Project Engineering will continue to contact General Electric on a periodic basis to keep the review moving and will notify your office of any definite davelopments.

Should you require additional information from Detroit Edison in this matter, please advise us.

Very truly yours, Caml/O 0g 0 B @
