In your letter dated O'ctober 12, 1978, you conmittdd to certain tests

and evaluations associated with the high level liquid waste storage system at your Wast Valley facility.
One of these tests was to be an

annual operational ' check of the 8D2 pan pump and pan liquid level instrument that would require the addition of water to the 8D2 pan.
Based upon our previous discussions and based upon our desire to
~
avoid activities which might interfereewith the planned remote inspec-tions of the high level waste storage system by Rockwell Hanford Operations, we request that you indefinitely suspend the additions of water to the 8D2 pan.
Following completion of Rockwell's inspection and evaluation program, we should again discuss the periodic testing
.:.x.y program for the high level waste storage system.
