20555 Attention: Mr. R. L. Tedesco JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT - UNIT 2 ENGINEERED SAFETY FEATURES BYPASS, 0VERRIDE AND RESET CIRCUITS Gentlemen:

As luested by the NRC staff during a telephone conversation with Alabama sawer Company on September 29, 1980, Alabama Power Company wishes to clarify the response of June 12, 1980 and September 12, 1980 concerning the subject connitments. As described in Alabama Power Company's submittal of September 8,1980, both the control circuits for the motor driven and turbine driven auxiliary feedwater pump discharge valves will be modified to include a main control board reset capability.

This reset capability will require the operator to reset the emergency initiating signal before the discharge valves can be moved from their emergency position.

This modification will be made for both the motor driven and turbine driven discharge valves prior to operation above zero power.

If you have any questions, please advise.

Very truly yours, 1 W $$$
